Former Ford Motor Co. executive David Mondragon has joined the board of Spiffy as an independent director, the automotive technology and mobile service provider said Thursday.

Mondragon spent more than 30 years at Ford, including time as Ford Canada president and CEO as well as executive director of U.S. sales and marketing. His appointment to the board is designed to help Spiffy scale its mobile service platform for dealerships, which it debuted last year.

“Over the past decade, we’ve built Spiffy into the industry’s first fully integrated platform for mobile services — combining software, digitally-enabled van technology, supporting devices, and training into one solution,” Spiffy CEO Karl Murphy said in a news release.

“We brought David onto the board for his deep OEM and dealer experience — and because he shares our belief that this model is the future of mobile operations at dealerships,” Murphy said. “His insight will be key as we continue helping dealers grow through smarter, more profitable operations.”

Spiffy announced the launch of the digital servicing platform in October and that it had integrated the platform with Reynolds and Reynolds. It debuted the digital servicing program with Bozard Ford Lincoln, based in St. Augustine, Fla.

In January, the company announced that its Digital Servicing platform had been integrated with CDK’s Fortellis platform, meaning dealerships could now connect Spiffy’s mobile service technology with CDK’s management system.

As part of that move, Spiffy added a third dealership to its Digital Servicing program: Krause Genesis. Looking at the CDK integration, Spiffy said this allows dealers to manage mobile appointments, optimize service routes, track inventory, process payments and sync data through their respective DMS.

The appointment of Mondragon to the board is another step for Spiffy to expand the mobile service program.

In the release, Mondragon added: “I believe in Spiffy’s vision for the future of automotive service, and I’m excited to join the company at this pivotal stage. Dealers need a better model to meet rising customer expectations and grow fixed ops — and Spiffy has built it. Digital Servicing is exactly what the industry needs: a complete, integrated solution that delivers convenience, efficiency, and profitability. I look forward to helping scale this vision and make Digital Servicing the standard for dealerships nationwide.”
