Getaround’s new COO has mission to navigate ‘path to sustainable profitability’
Connected carsharing marketplace Getaround has promoted general manager of gig AJ Lee to chief operating officer.
The company said Lee, who will report to CEO Eduardo Iniguez, will be responsible for accelerating Getaround’s growth and path to profitability, as well as overseeing operations, marketing, sales and other functions.
Lee said in a news release he’ll be focused on “establishing strong financial discipline and driving operational efficiencies, allowing us to invest in our future growth. … I’m confident that together we can move fast, execute effectively and deliver value for our car owners, renters and investors.”
Lee joined Getaround through its acquisition of HyreCar’s assets in May 2023 and took ownership of Getaround’s Drive With Uber program as well as the HyreCar business.
He previously served as senior vice president of growth for artificial intelligence-powered logistics platform Airspace, building and optimizing revenue functions in the U.S. and Europe, as well as senior roles in strategy, operations and marketing for NEXT Trucking, Amazon and other technology companies.
“During our previous collaboration, AJ drove growth and margin improvements quickly with a unique ability to build lean, high-performing teams, balance strategic growth initiatives with cost-efficiency measures, and develop impactful features and products for customers,” Iniguez said. “I am confident his hands-on approach to business transformation will accelerate the company’s path to sustainable profitability.”
