Reviver has been anointed by the Kings.

The developer of the RPLATE digital license plate announced it has joined the NBA’s Sacramento Kings in a multi-year partnership, beginning with the 2024-2025 season.

The team will wear Reviver’s logo on the left shoulder of its jerseys, which the company said makes it the first Black-founded technology company to be featured on an NBA jersey patch.

In addition, Reviver has been named the exclusive digital license plate of the Kings, the presenting partner of the Capitalize: Technology competition, and the team’s official innovation partner.

The partnership was facilitated by Black Star Fund, a Black-led venture capital firm based in Sacramento.

“This partnership, made possible through Black Star Fund, reflects our shared vision of innovation, diversity and forward-thinking leadership,” Reviver founder and chief strategy officer Neville Boston said. “Both Reviver and the Kings are pushing boundaries in our respective industries, and together we will amplify our tech-driven solutions to impact diverse communities.”

Kings owner and chairman Vivek Ranadivé said the team has a long tradition of using its global platform to promote innovation and technology, which is exemplified by the partnership with Northern California-based Reviver.

“It’s particularly exciting to showcase a homegrown company that was part of our Kings Capitalize program,” Ranadivé said. “This is just the beginning of our work together, and we look forward to helping Reviver in its mission to modernize the driving experience.”

Reviver’s RPLATE, is a digital, connected platform designed to simplify vehicle management and registration while providing enhanced security and personalization.

In addition to replacing traditional license plates with digital displays and allow visual personalization of the display with custom messaging, the company said the RPLATE includes location tracking, registration renewal via mobile app, alerts when the vehicle has been moved, tamper-proof mounting and anti-theft features.

Reviver said its digital license plate also offers brand enhancement, incremental income and operational efficiencies for dealerships, allowing them to pre-install digital plates on their vehicles to use as billboards with a custom dealer logo and message.

The company said it can also help dealers modernize how they manage temporary and test-drive plates while reducing the overhead of paperwork and stickers.

The RPLATE is currently legal for all vehicles in Arizona and California, and for commercial fleet vehicles in Texas. Reviver said 10 additional states are in various stages of adoption.

“As an investment firm dedicated to hands-on business development to drive growth, we couldn’t be prouder to support our portfolio company, Reviver, and to have helped secure this groundbreaking partnership with the Sacramento Kings,” Black Star Fund founding managing partner Kwame Anku said. “This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration, bringing together Sacramento-based businesses across multiple industries, all aligned in a shared mission to drive economic growth while supporting our vibrant community.”
