Reynolds and Reynolds executive elected to board of IT standards organization
A Reynolds and Reynolds executive has been elected to a prestigious position.
Director of industry relations Shawn Leibold was selected in a special election to fill a vacant seat on the board of directors of automotive information technology standards organization Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail.
Leibold had previously been a STAR board member, and has collaborated with STAR members — OEM executives, dealer principals, representatives from the National Automobile Dealers Association and technology providers — as a part of the organization’s technology committee.
“I’m honored to be asked to take on this role and look forward to helping move the organization forward as it continues to impress on the industry the need for a common set of standards,” he said in a news release. “We must continue to develop those standards so stakeholders can leverage efficiency, speed and agility to provide better customer experience outcomes.”
In 2023, the STAR board was restructured and reduced to nine members, split equally between OEMs, technology providers and dealers.
Board members are elected to three-year terms. Officers serve one-year terms and can be re-elected. Leibold will serve the one year remaining in the term for his seat.
“As a former board member of STAR, Shawn steps into this role seamlessly and provides a wealth of DMS insights, which are vital to the future development of STAR standards,” said STAR standards chairman JP Garvey, dealer principal of Garvey Auto Group. “It’s great to see that the members recognize the importance of this critical insight as STAR moves into 2024 and beyond.”
