Dealership software platform TradePending has launched new video feature in its trade-in valuation tool.

The free update is designed to allow car owners to record and share a short video walk-around of their vehicles, enhancing the process for both dealerships and customers.

When users request a trade-in value through TradePending’s tool, the company said, they can now showcase their vehicle with a simple video recording to give dealerships a more comprehensive view.

The tool continues to provide a market report outlining the vehicle’s value, local supply and demand data, comparisons to similar vehicles and more.

“Dealerships gain valuable insights through these customer-submitted videos, helping them prioritize their outreach efforts and connect with motivated sellers,” CEO Brice Englert said. “This new feature underscores our mission of simplifying processes while creating meaningful value for dealers and their customers.”

TradePending said its new tool doesn’t require complex, step-by-step photo uploads that can lead to user frustration and abandonment, providing instead a “quick and simple experience for users” that introduces the video recording only after the vehicle’s value has been provided.

For vehicle owners, the video feature is an opportunity to showcase recent repairs, upgrades or unique features of their vehicles, the company said, making their trade-in process more personalized and rewarding.

For dealerships, it allows sales teams to track customers who submit videos, helping them tailor follow-up communications, and gives used-car managers more visibility into the vehicles they’re interested in acquiring.
