Tom Freiert, whose experience in automotive technology and remarketing includes helping start up a company, has joined VUMO AI as director of sales, the company announced.

Freiert’s career includes 11 years with Black Widow Imaging, a provider of automated vehicle imaging technology he co-founded in 2012. Freiert filled several roles in the company, including director of operations and executive vice president, before joining KAR Global in 2021. He returned to Black Widow as senior VP of sales in 2023.

Freiert was honored as one of Auto Remarketing’s Remarketing & Used-Car Industry’s 40 Under 40 in 2020, and is currently a member of Auction Academy’s Class 8.

In a news release, VUMO AI said Freiert’s leadership and understanding of auction technology make him a perfect fit to lead the company’s strategic growth.

VUMO AI provides artificial intelligence-powered vehicle condition reporting using machine learning and computer vision, designed to give accurate, real-time assessments of vehicle conditions.

The company said its technology automated and streamlines the vehicle inspection process to enhance transparency, efficiency and decision-making for automotive remarketers, dealerships and fleet managers.
