ATLANTA -

As spring got under way and perhaps more consumers were inspired to turn their interest toward fun, cruising rides, luxury certified and late-model pre-owned vehicles continued to be hard to find in March.

According to the latest installment of vehicle scarcity data that is provided monthly to Auto Remarketing by AutoTrader.com, Porsche really “jumped out” in March scarcity on the CPO front.

Of the top 10 most scarce vehicles on a national level, four were from Porsche.

The CPO Porsche Caymen took over the number one spot as the most scarce vehicle in March nationally; in February, the CPO BMW M series held the same spot.

Additionally, the Cayman was the most scarce vehicle in four of the 10 DMAs (Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia).

Audi had another strong month on the scarcity lists, as well.

“Although the CPO Audi TT dropped off the national scarcity list, four DMAs had an increased number of Audis appearing on the CPO scarcity list,” AutoTrader.com reported.

—In February, Boston had two CPO Audis – the A5 and the S4 – on the list. In March, there were four Audis on the CPO list, with the A5 dropping off completely, and the S5 coming in at No. 1, the A3 coming in at No. 6 and the Q7 at No. 7.

—In February, Chicago had two CPO Audis on the list, the A8 and the S4. Both of those have dropped off the list, but there were still four CPO Audis on the list: the TTS at No. 4, the A3 at No. 8, the TT at No. 9 and the A5 at No. 10.

—In February, Houston had two CPO Audis on the list – the S4 and the A5. In March, these were joined by the S5 at No. 2 and the Q5 at No. 10, for a total of four CPO Audis on the list.

—In February, Los Angeles had three CPO Audis on the list – the TT, the S4 and the S5. In March, those three were joined by two more for a total of five Audis on the list. The two that joined were the ZDX and the TTS.

Earlier this year, AutoTrader.com predicted CPO luxury vehicles would remain difficult to find this spring, an expectation that seems to have come true, as the Toyota Land Cruiser is the only CPO scarce vehicle on the national list that is not a luxury or sports vehicle.
