CARY, N.C. -

Used-car sales for October are likely to climb nearly 4% year-over-year and tick up modestly from September, according to a sales forecast released Monday by ALG.

Specifically, ALG is forecasting 3,439,074 used-vehicle sales for the month. That would beat October 2018 sales by 3.7% and September sales by 0.2%.

The resulting year-to-date tally would be an estimated 34,953,592 used-car sales, according to ALG. That’s up 0.8 % from 34,663,121 through 10 months of 2018.

(ALG said that in the year-to-date figures for 2019, September and October figures are estimates at this point.)

The used-car sales market is amid what Cox Automotive describes as a plateau.

After 39.4 million used-vehicle sales in 2018, Cox Automotive is projecting 39.2 million used sales this year and 39.0 million in 2020.
