Used Cars On-Line Launches New Search Feature
PITTSBURGH — Used Cars On-Line, a search-engine for used vehicles for sale by owner, rolled out a new feature on Tuesday that is designed to allow for more tailored and "nontraditional" criteria in searching for used vehicles.
By using the "Exploration Search" function, shoppers can filter searches to very specific criteria like "4-door car newer than 2004" or "SUV under $10,000." Essentially, this is a different approach than "traditional" searching by make or model, officials explained.
"We asked our users what they are looking for when they search for used cars," stated Phil Anderson, chief executive officer of Used Cars On-Line. "Many people told us they were looking for a type of vehicle, such as a minivan, in a certain price range, and it did not matter what company manufactured it."
Additionally, the site includes a "refinement section" to whittle their initial searches down further. Should a shopper begins searching by make or model, by using this function, they can narrow the results by more specific factors, like number of doors or body type, just to name a few.
"This allows buyers to quickly narrow or broaden their search based on how many cars came back, and they can slice and dice the results to find their perfect car," officials added.
