2011 Coupe Helps Drive Upswing in Cadillac Resale Values
DETROIT — The Cadillac CTS will likely make some headway in the resale value arena thanks to the 2011 CTS Coupe being brought into the fold this summer, July/August estimates from ALG indicate.
ALG indicated that a reduction in incentives, tighter inventory control and the focus toward design — all of which can be found in the CTS Coupe — are what have pushed resale values up.
"Competitive products, innovative styling and a value driven pricing strategy are contributing to a resurgence of the Cadillac brand," explained Matt Traylen, ALG chief economist and client partner.
"The introduction of the Coupe broadens the potential CTS customer base and elevates the Cadillac brand as a whole with emotional appeal, dynamic performance and enthusiast credibility," he added.
The 2011 CTS Sport Sedan is projected to hold 55 percent of its initial value after three years, according to ALG. Compared to the projected 36-month resale value of the previous model, this marks roughly a 9-percentage-point gain.
The 2011 CTS Sport Wagon is predicted to show the same upswing, as the new edition's projected three-year resale value (54 percent of original price) is 9 percentage points stronger than the 2010 variety.
As far as the CTS Coupe, its price after 36 months of ownership is projected at 59 percent. The model started hitting dealer lots in July, and has garnered industry praise, including taking honors as the best concept car at the 2008 North American International Auto Show's Eyes on Design Awards.
Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac marketing, said these resale upswings stem from Cadillac's long-term brand-development commitment.
Looking at another model whose resale values are on the up-and-up, the predicted resale value of the redesigned 2010 SRX crossover has shown a double-digit year-over-year percentage hike.
"Cadillac continues to deliver products that stand out in the luxury market through bold design, exceptional performance and advanced technology," Butler commented. "The SRX has brought Cadillac style to the fast-growing crossover market. The CTS Coupe pushes design and performance even further on Cadillac's award-winning CTS line."
