Amelung takes gavel as NAAA president, Rogers elected VP
Craig Amelung has officially become president of the National Auto Auction Association for the 2024-25 term, taking office when outgoing president Eric Autenrieth passed the gavel in a ceremony during the 2024 NAAA World Remarketing Convention in Orlando, Fla.
During the convention’s all-member meeting, Tommy Rogers was elected vice president.
Amelung is a 32-year auto industry veteran and a longtime leader in auto auction management. He currently serves as general manager of Manheim’s Mid-Atlantic Market Center, leading the collaboration of shared resources and support functions among Manheim Baltimore-Washington, Manheim Fredericksburg and Manheim Harrisonburg.
Amelung joined Manheim’s corporate staff in 2009 as director of best practices, helping lead the company’s efforts to standardize processes and procedures nationwide. He later served as senior director of operations support.
He then moved back into field operations as assistant general manager and later GM of Manheim Fredericksburg, where he was instrumental in helping the auction achieve new levels of operating efficiency and customer and employee engagement.
Within NAAA, Amelung serves on multiple association committees and is chairman of the governance committee. The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association honored him at its 2023 convention with the Crystal Eagle Award for excellence in membership recruitment during his term as 2022-2023 president of the affiliated Virginia IADA.
In his new role as vice president, Rogers will serve on NAAA’s executive committee. The position is the beginning of a three-year progression that will elevate him to president-elect for 2025-26 and president for the following term.
Rogers currently works for BSC America as general manager of Bel Air Auto Auction’s Specialty Sale, focusing on specialty, truck and equipment, and salvage vehicles. He also has executive oversight of Tallahassee Auto Auction. His 28 years of experience in auto auction leadership also includes 20 years with Carolina Auto Auction, where he served as GM.
Rogers’ NAAA leadership includes his current positions as a member of the Eastern Chapter board of directors and NAAA’s membership and safety and security committees, and co-chair of the auction standards committee. He also serves on the Automotive Remarketing Alliance’s industry advancement committee.
