Auction Academy class graduates, new class starts
As one Auction Academy class moves on, another moves in.
The academy’s Class 8 held its final two sessions early this year, beginning in February at ADESA Birmingham in Birmingham, Ala., and culminating with a session hosted by ADESA San Diego that included graduation.
Auction Academy’s newest group, Class 9, began its curriculum with its first session in Nashville, Tenn., in February, hosted by Auction Edge and Manheim Nashville, where general manager Steve Robinson and his team led the group on a tour of the auction operation.
“This first quarter of 2025, with three back-to-back sessions, has been one of the most energizing in our program’s history,” Auction Academy president Penny Wanna said. “We are so proud of Class 8 and everything they’ve accomplished, and we’re equally excited about the momentum Class 9 is already building.
“Our host auctions have been, and continue to be, exceptional partners on this journey, and we thank them for their unwavering support.”
Wanna noted Class 9 brings the Auction Academy program into its 14th year and continues the development of industry leaders, and said its session in Nashville “laid a solid foundation for the two-year journey ahead.”
Class 8’s graduation was celebrated is San Diego with a ceremony and gala attended by alumni, sponsors, industry associates, leaders and supporters
“We are extremely proud of the dedication and accomplishment of the Class 8 group as they completed their two-year academy curriculum,” Auction Academy CEO Pierre Pons said, “and are equally appreciative of the outpouring of support from the remarketing industry — as witnessed by a fantastic graduation gala.”
The academy is a two-year continuing career training program designed for auto auction and auto remarketing leaders. Sessions combine classroom-style education with real-world exposure and networking opportunities, including site visits, field trips, technical certifications and work with industry experts in all areas of auto auction operations.
“At Auction Academy we look forward to continued growth and innovation throughout the year as we help build the next generation of leaders for the auto auction industry,” Wanna said.
