In the wake of the hurricanes Helene and Milton, which have devastated several areas of the Southeast in recent weeks, the National Auto Auction Association is urging its members to donate to the NAAA Mike Browning Auction Employee Relief Fund.

The fund is a part of the NAAA Warren Young, Sr. Scholastic Foundation and is designed to provide finance assistance to employees of NAAA-member auctions who have incurred a major financial loss or are in emergency financial need because of a natural disaster.

NAAA said last week that it had already received many requests for aid in the wake of Helene and was expecting much of the same from the impact of Milton.

Those who have been impacted by either storm and are seeking relief can download the form here and email it to naaa@naaa.com.

In the message sent to NAAA members last week in advance of Milton, the foundation chairman and former NAAA president Mike Browning said: “We are a special industry, and we have always had each other’s back. Hurricane Milton could be the worst storm in 100 years to hit the Tampa Bay area, and there will be many of our members who need our help.

“We hope that everyone stays safe over the next few days, and we are thinking of everyone in Florida and all across the Southeast.”

Along similar lines, the American Financial Services Association said in a blog post last week that it has launched a fundraising raffle for relief efforts.

The association is raffling off one fully paid registration for a 2025 AFSA conference of the winner’s choice:

Vehicle Finance Conference & Expo in New Orleans
Independents Conference & Expo in Huntington Beach, Calif.
AFSA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.

Raffle tickets can be purchased here and the winner will be announced at the group’s 2024 Annual Meeting in Phoenix next week.
