After taking a month off for the holidays, Carvana is back on the Megasite track.

The online used-car retailer announced plans to open its latest integrated auction/reconditioning center on the ADESA Atlanta auction site in Fairburn, Ga.

Carvana’s fifth Megasite follows the launch of similar operations at ADESA Kansas City in August, ADESA Houston in September, ADESA Las Vegas in October and ADESA Boston in November.

As with the other Megasites, the Atlanta facility adds inspection and reconditioning center capabilities while maintaining all digital and in-lane wholesale auction operations. The integrated site builds Carvana’s overall production capacity and enhances the company’s offerings for local retail and wholesale customers.

“As our first market, Atlanta holds a significant place in Carvana’s history, and we have built a robust retail presence here over the years just as ADESA has established a strong local presence on the wholesale side,” Carvana senior vice president of inventory Brian Boyd said in a news release. “We look forward to providing an even better experience to all of our customers in the Atlanta community with this integration.”

The auction site, which covers more than 100 acres and includes almost 12,000 parking spaces. has served wholesale customers for more than 30 years. The company said its location in South Fulton County, near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, makes it a logistics hub, accessible to wholesale customers and connecting to Carvana’s regional and national operations.

Carvana has begun hiring for the recon center and expects the Megasite transition to create some 200 new jobs.

The addition of the inspection and recon center increases Carvana’s nationwide reconditioning capacity, which the company said improves selection for all customers, and boosts recon operations for wholesale customers. And the new pool of retail inventory in the Atlanta area gives local customers access to more vehicles that can be delivered as soon as the same or the next day.
