Next up on our “M&A + Auto Auctions” series of the Auto Remarketing Podcast is a conversation with TPC Management Co. president Pierre Pons and longtime auto auction executive John Poteet, who recently joined TPC as an industry associate and management advisor.

In this episode, we look at the auto auction M&A landscape from the seller’s vantage point. Pons and Poteet discuss how an owner determines if they want to sell their auto auction, the process to prepare for a sale of the business, the new market entrants buying auto auctions these days and much more.

Poteet’s auction career goes back to 1989, when he joined Newburgh Auto Auction as manager of finance and office operations. After serving as general manager of Greater Group’s New Orleans Auto Auction — where he reported to Pons, an executive of the Greater Group at the time — Poteet in 2002 founded Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction, which he owned and managed for 20 years before selling to EBlock in 2022.

In 1996, Pons co-founded TPC Management Co., which provides a range of consulting and management services to the auto auction industry, including advisory services on buy-sell.

Hear what the two executives well-versed in the buy-sell process had to say about auction M&A in the conversation below.
