The National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) and the Automotive Remarketing Alliance (ARA) celebrated Steve Kapusta this week at the 2024 NAAA World Remarketing Convention in Orlando, Fla.

The senior vice president of Ally Remarketing Services for SmartAuction received the Ed Bobit Industry Icon Award.

Jointly created by NAAA and ARA in 2015, the annually given accolade commemorates the late Ed Bobit, who was the founder of Bobit Business Media. It is given to members of the automotive industry who most exemplify Bobit’s leadership, dedication, service, and devotion to excellence.

Kapusta has led a distinguished career of more than three decades in the automotive industry. He was originally involved with vehicle pricing when SmartAuction launched in 2000 offering off-lease vehicles.

With Kapusta’s leadership and expertise, SmartAuction has grown from humble beginnings to a leading digital platform that has sold more than 8.3 million vehicles for thousands of dealers, nearly 100 physical auctions, and numerous commercial consignors.

Kapusta has over 35 years of business experience with Ally. Prior to his current role, he served in positions of increasing responsibility with the controller’s group, finance, treasury, and remarketing teams.

“NAAA and ARA congratulate Kapusta on receiving this year’s award and for becoming the newest member of this group that honors the legacy of Ed Bobit,” the organizations said in a news release.
