An industry with as many moving parts (literally) as the auto auction industy requires a wide array of talent to complete the myriad tasks associated with sale day and beyond: drivers on sale day, accountants, sales representatives, office managers, tow-truck operators, technicians, parts supervisors, reconditioning specialists, customer service managers and much more.

So as part of its NAAA Workforce Initiative, the National Auto Auction Association has officially launched its job boards website, according to a memo from the association Tuesday.

“NAAA is most excited to launch our jobs board, which will be a valuable resource for our members and the auto auction industry,” NAAA president Charles Nichols said in the memo.

“We believe this will be an important step to help connect job seekers with open positions and will help them start a rewarding and lengthy career in our great industry,” Nichols said.

And helping its member auctions recruit and find that needed talent to run their auction operations.

In December interview with Auto Remarketing, NAAA chief executive officer Tricia Heon shared some goals around the Workforce Initiative: “We want to help those interested in pursuing careers in the auto auction industry — we want to help them find jobs — but also really assist our members in honing their skills in recruiting skilled, talented employees.”

Beyond the job board, NAAA is providing additional resources like webinars. In fact, the association hosted a webinar in December on “How to Attract and Retain Top Talent,” led by WrenchWay president Jay Goninen. A recording of the webinar is available on the association’s website.

In essence, NAAA is aiming to be a “clearinghouse” for auctions to find information on recruitment and training, Heon said.

“They're going to be seeing us become kind of a clearinghouse where you can come find that information,” Heon said. “If I hear anything from our members, it's, 'I need cars and i need talented employees.' We'll be working hard on that in 2022.”
