OPENLANE Celebrates Record Sales Year in Canada
TORONTO, Ontario -
Sharing some of the expansion and progress the company has made in Canada this year, OPENLANE revealed recently that it achieved an all-time high for Canadian online vehicle sales this year.
The online auction said it moved over 100,000 units through the Web in 2010, and cited the reasons for this growth as being more robust consignment numbers and the fact that dealers continue to buy in to the online auction.
“OPENLANE’s growth throughout Canada in 2010 has been tremendous, and our sales milestone of 100,000 vehicles sold in Canada this year shows the continued enthusiasm that Canadian remarketers and dealers have for the online process and the convenience and efficiency that it provides them for running their used vehicle operations,” shared Peter Kelly, OPENLANE’s president and chief financial officer.
As the company continues to celebrate the record, it is honoring Mark Durant, of Kingston Volkswagen, who purchased the 100,000th vehicle sold by OPENLANE in Canada.
The company is giving the dealership a $1,000 check and commemorative plaque.
Among the Canadian offerings that OPENLANE debuted for dealers this year is a new Canadian website (www.openlane.ca.), as well the rollout of iDEAL, which provides a nationwide avenue for dealers, fleet/lease companies, daily rental operators and others to market and sell their vehicles.
“We greatly appreciate the trust that our customers put in us each and every day,” Kelly added.
“Our aim is to bring innovation and new value to the remarketing process, and with the launch of both the iDEAL Canada program and the upgraded OPENLANE.ca site this year, dealers and consignors across Canada now benefit from a better way to sell used inventory while maximizing returns for the their businesses,” he continued.
Rob Bulyovsky, of Canadian Auto Associates Ltd. in Guelph, Ontario, offered some perspective from the customer side of things. He noted: “OPENLANE has been my preferred method for acquiring vehicles for a number of years now, and we’re pleased to see the company’s continued success.
“As an avid user of both the open auction and the iDEAL program, I can attest to the value that OPENLANE has brought our dealership, from the ease and efficiency of the purchasing process to the range of services available to us. It’s a no-brainer,” he concluded.
