TORONTO, Ontario — Saab is officially back in the Canadian market and, apparently, dealers are already looking to join the automaker's network.

Saab Cars North America and International Fleet Sales revealed earlier this week that they are working together to determine how vehicles will be brought into Canada and delivered to dealers. This import and delivery process will begin with the 2011 model-year lineup, and IFS will provide distribution services to the automaker.

So far, roughly 20 dealers in Canada have indicated that they are interested in selling Saab vehicles, officials noted.

"Saab Cars North America is proud to have successfully reached a memorandum of understanding with International Fleet Sales to begin providing high-quality, stylish and trendy Saab vehicles into the Canadian marketplace," stated Mike Colleran, president and chief operating officer of Saab Cars North America. 

"International Fleet Sales has experience distributing Saabs since 2005 when we exported the Saab 9-7X to Europe and the Middle East and now we look forward to working with SCNA to provide Saab vehicles to the Canadian marketplace," commented Mike Libasci, president of IFS. "We also look forward to receiving new product from Sweden in the fall of this year."

Saab's vehicle lineup will make their way to Canadian dealerships in the fall. An addition to Saab's offering will be the all-new 9-3X premium crossover, officials noted.

The company noted that when Saab has settled on its dealer network, warranty work will be conducted through those dealers.
