Wood continues notable automotive career by joining CarOffer
Scott Wood’s automotive career includes time with Carvana, OPENLANE and TrueCar as well as a franchised dealership owner.
On Wednesday, digital wholesale platform CarOffer, part of the CarGurus network, announced the addition of Wood as senior vice president of operations.
In his new role, Wood will lead day-to-day operations, strategic planning and implementation of operational improvements in support of CarOffer’s goal to enhance all aspects of the dealer wholesale transaction experience.
“Scott brings a true 360-degree view to the wholesale acquisition experience through his unique career trajectory, which spans dealership management, scaling digital wholesale operations, and optimizing trade operations for digital retail platforms,” CarOffer chief executive officer Zach Hallowell said in a news release.
“We believe his industry knowledge and commitment to building highly effective teams will support CarOffer’s strategic objectives as we focus on optimizing the dealer experience,” continued Hallowell, who is among the executives set to appear during Used Car Week, which begins on Nov. 18 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
CarOffer highlighted Wood brings decades of automotive experience to the role, with extensive expertise driving operational excellence for digital wholesale businesses through strategy development, sales planning, and overall business optimization.
Prior to joining CarOffer, Wood spent the last eight years building, executing and maintaining the national digital wholesale strategy for Carvana, most recently serving as head of wholesale innovation.
Before that position, Wood led operations for digital retail and wholesale platforms at various levels of growth, including OPENLANE and TrueCar. In these roles he helped enhance business processes, tested and implemented new technology, and streamlined nationwide fulfillment processes.
CarOffer mentioned Wood got his start in the automotive industry in retail sales as the owner of two franchised dealerships. The company said that provided Wood with a first-hand understanding of how data-driven sourcing methods can support dealer priorities and enhance their retail and wholesale business objectives.
“Having worked for years on the digitalization of the traditional auction experience, it’s clear that CarOffer’s BuyingMatrix and 24/7 platform offer a superior approach and represent true digital wholesale,” Wood said. “It’s a combination of data intelligence and automation that drives smart decisions for all participants.
“I am energized by the opportunity to work alongside the team introducing modern wholesale methodology to more buyers and sellers,” he went on to say.
