OKLAHOMA CITY -

Donating $20 for each new-car sale and $1 from every oil change can add up to help families in need, says one Oklahoma dealership.

Hudiburg Chevrolet and Ally Financial have announced a community challenge for the month of July, to raise money for Operation Homefront Oklahoma, an organization that provides emergency financial assistance to military families.

“Oklahomans give back. It’s in our bloodl, and it’s what we do,” said Mike Myers, general manager of Hudiburg Chevrolet. “We invite the community to join us in supporting the military heroes who have given up so much for our freedom.”

Starting Monday, Hudiburg Chevrolet will donate $20 for every new car sold and $1 from every oil change directly to Operation Homefront; the dealership encourages customers to match these donations.

Ally Financial will then match the total giving at the end of July, and present the donation to Operation Homefront at an event celebrating local Oklahoma military families in August.

“We are proud to partner with Hudiburg Chevrolet to support such an outstanding program in the Oklahoma community,” said Mike Kimmel, regional vice president for Ally Financial. “It is a privilege to rally behind all the deserving military families that sacrifice so much for us every day.”

Operation Homefront is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2002 to support the families of deployed service members after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Since then, the organization has given $128 million in emergency assistance to military families, which is granted within 72 hours and comes in the form of checks, emergency food, critical baby items, home repairs, furniture and other household items.

“Our goal at Operation Homefront is to help as many military families as we can, and we’re grateful for every dollar that helps make that happen,” said Carol Herrick, Operation Homefront Oklahoma and Arkansas executive director. “This donation from Hudiburg and Ally will allow us to make sure that our service members and their loved ones are taken care of. We are very thankful for their continued support.”
