TrueCar said Wednesday that dealers across the country now have access to its home delivery program, which TrueCar offers on select used vehicles within its platform.

TrueCar has piloted this “distance retailing program” with auto logistics platform ACERTUS in Texas and Florida. And now any TrueCar Certified Dealer in the continental U.S. who enrolls in the program can expand the reach of their used-car inventory by delivering vehicles outside of their own market, via ACERTUS.

A dealer enrolled in distance retailing can choose to have home delivery coverage in their state, a neighboring state or their entire region — giving them an extended base of potential used-car buyers.

Meantime, TrueCar said consumers will have a greater selection of used cars from which to choose, while also being able to have a car shipped to their homes. TrueCar said it automatically calculates vehicle delivery pricing on eligible cars when a customer scrolls through its website.

And as part of this overall move, the company’s TrueCar+ offering in Florida will now feature vehicle delivery.

“Our home delivery program in partnership with ACERTUS lets consumers give realistic consideration to a wider range of dealer inventory, with each eligible vehicle showing clear, straightforward delivery pricing to the consumer's preferred location,” TrueCar president and chief executive officer Mike Darrow said in a news release.

“With this capability, consumers can effectively consider used vehicles in and out of their local market, and choose the best vehicle for them,” Darrow said. “The platform is simple for dealers to use, with scheduling tools embedded in the dealer portal and an ability to track the progress of the vehicle on its way to the customer.”

ACERTUS CEO Trent Broberg added: “Logistics has become a critical competitive advantage for dealers wanting to expand their market. We also know that while the last mile can be the most challenging to execute, it’s an opportunity to earn customers and provide a superior buying experience.

“Through our partnership with TrueCar, dealers can now access the technology and resources to seamlessly implement a distance retailing and home delivery strategy without the added investment,” Broberg said.

Darrow and Broberg each appeared on the Auto Remarketing Podcast this spring. Their respective episodes can be found below.
