CHICAGO -

Used-vehicle prices this month stayed at relatively the same spot they were during their low point in June, according to Cars.com, which said the used model with the most significant price movement in October — up or down — was the Nissan Quest.

The minivan’s prices on Oct. 1 was down 3.6 percent from the Sept. 1 level, but it wasn’t the biggest story.

In the third consecutive month of falling prices for the segment, luxury models represented four of the top 10 biggest price drops on the website, as detailed here in a Kicking Tires blog post for Cars.com written by Mike Hanley.

Prices for BMW Z4 were off 3.4 percent, putting in the No. 2 spot among biggest price delcines. In at No. 3 was the Range Rover model from Land Rover, whose prices fell 3.2 percent. Then the fourth-biggest drop was for the Infiniti M37, which was off 2.9 percent.

Another BMW model, the 128i, was seventh on the list, as its prices dipped 2.6 percent.

Interestingly enough, though, it was also a luxury model (the Infiniti QX56, up 1.4 percent) that led the increases, according to the blog.

Three additional luxury rides — the Lexus LS 460 at No. 4 (up 0.3 percent), Cadillac Escalade ESV at No. 8 (up 0.1 percent) and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class at No. 9 (up 0.1 percent) — also made the top 10 list for price increases.

Overall, the gains were less dramatic than the declines, as they ranged from 0.1 percent to 1.4 percent.

The list of biggest price decliners and risers include used vehicles from the 2010 through 2012 model years listed on Cars.com, and can be found here.

The blog post said that overall late-model car prices on Cars.com came in $22,181 on Oct. 1. The low-point from June was $22,153.
