ADESA Canada: Wholesale Segment Price Trends ‘Mixed’ in April
During what was found to be a “mixed” month among various vehicle segments, the ADESA Canada Used Vehicle Price Index in April showed a modest month-over-month dip on a seasonally adjusted basis.
More specifically, ADESA’s data — powered by ALG Canada — showed that the “index was down slightly from March” and indicated that wholesale prices were off approximately 2.7 percent sequentially.
Breaking it down by segment, minivan values were up 2.6 percent while mid-compacts jumped 0.3 percent, as these were the only ones in the data set to show an increase.
Midsize SUVs dipped 7.3 percent, and full-size pickups were off 4.4 percent. Meanwhile, midsize cars dropped 1.2 percent, and compact SUVs softened 0.2 percent.
Sharing some overall economic analysis, officials noted: “The Canadian economy stumbled in April: consumer confidence plummeted 4.5 points to 75 (following three consecutive months of gains), the unemployment rate increased 0.1 percentage point to 7.3 percent as more people were searching for work and national gasoline prices peaked at $1.35 per liter during the course of the month.”
