Cadillac Escalade EXT Scarcest CPO Vehicle in January
This January, a luxury SUV knocked a luxury coupe off its post as scarcest certified pre-owned vehicle in the nation.
This past month, the CPO Cadillac Escalade EXT took the top spot on the national scarcity list, pushing the certified Porsche Cayman down to No. 2.
This is according to the latest installment of vehicle scarcity data that is provided monthly to Auto Remarketing by AutoTrader.com.
Interestingly, the Escalade EXT was not in the top 10 scarcest vehicles nationally at all in December, making the No. 1 ranking quite a surprise, AutoTrader analysts pointed out.
The Escalade EXT also appeared on a few designated market area scarcity lists, with the CPO version coming in at No. 2 in Atlanta and the used model coming in at No. 3 in Chicago.
At the DMA level, the big story was that several smaller trucks made the lists in several areas, the site pointed out.
Analysts also noted there were a very high concentration of trucks in both Philadelphia and Chicago — both on the CPO and used lists for those DMAs.
Also interesting is that with the exception of two full-size trucks in Chicago (the CPO Nissan Titan at No. 8 and the used Toyota Tundra at No. 9), all of the other trucks were in the compact to midsize range.
The following statistics illustrate this trend:
- The CPO Chevrolet Colorado came in at No. 2 in Chicago, No. 7 in Atlanta, No. 7 in Philadelphia and No. 9 in Boston. It was not on the scarcity lists in any of those DMAs, with the exception of Philadelphia, where it dropped two spots from the No. 5 rank it held in December.
- The used Colorado landed at No. 8 in Philadelphia.
- The used Colorado landed at No. 8 in Philadelphia.
- Another CPO compact pickup truck to appear on the scarcity in Philadelphia was the CPO Ford Ranger, which came in at No. 4 in that DMA.
- Moving up in size, the midsize Used Dodge Dakota was scarce across five DMAs, coming in at no. 2 in New York, No. 3 in Los Angeles, No. 6 in Philadelphia and No. 7 in both Chicago and Boston.
- With the exception of Chicago, where it held its No. 7 ranking from December, the Dakota was not on the scarcity list in any of the other DMAs in December.
Yet another used midsize pickup truck to appear on the scarcity list in Chicago was the used GMC Canyon, which was not on the list in that DMA in December.
Lastly, the CPO Ford Explorer Sport Trac, part of the sport utility truck class, came in at No. 8 in Philadelphia. It was not on the list in that DMA during in December.
