NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Auto Remarketing learned Friday that BB&T Corp. has named a 2010 Auction of the Year. Taking these top honors is Manheim Tennessee Auto Auction.

Manheim Tennessee was recognized for providing top sales results, sales percentage and expenses relative to liquidation for both BB&T and its affiliate, Regional Acceptance.

Customer service, facility management and operational effectiveness also are considered for eligibility requirements, BB&T officials noted.

“When I think excellent customer service for both consignors and buyers, Manheim Tennessee tops the list,” said Neil Boardman, BB&T remarketing manager. “Robin Treadway, Chris Bohannon and Bobby Kurzrock have an excellent team that works diligently to meet client expectations. This attention to customer service brings people to the auction which results in top retention for our product.”

BB&T uses approximately 25 automobile, marine and recreational vehicle auctions nationwide to sell repossessed vehicles. Manheim Tennessee was named Auction of the Year by Regional Acceptance, in the award’s inaugural year. Since that time they have consistently placed in the top three positions.

“It is a great honor to win the BB&T auction of the year award,” said Robin Treadway, general manager of Manheim Tennessee. “We compete against very strong auctions around the country which makes winning the award an even bigger honor. We are very lucky to work with a group of BB&T’s well-seasoned representatives who make astute reconditioning decisions and have a trusted following in our lanes and online. This allows us to help maximize their retentions.”

BB&T also handed out two other recognitions in 2010. The Most Improved Auction Award was presented to America’s Auto Auction of Chicago. This award recognizes the auction that scores above average in net profitability among all auctions and has the largest net profitability change on an average basis.

Manheim Tampa was awarded the first BB&T Auction “Ironman” Award.  This award is given to the auction that consistently places in the top three positions for all categories each month throughout the year, the company revealed.
