BOSTON -

Officials from Mojo Motors are declaring that more than 100 franchise dealers in the Boston and Providence, R.I., markets are seeing increases in used-vehicle sales thanks to a new website connecting the stores with qualified local buyers who are ready to make a purchase.

These dealers pay a marketing fee to participate and are required to honor offers made to consumers through Mojo Motors, which serves as the online conduit that site officials say “puts consumers in the driver’s seat and rewards them for their purchase.”

Mojo Motors officials explained how their site is intended to operate.

Shoppers first can post a request at MojoMotors.com and select the vehicle they’re interested in purchasing. The site is designed to locate inventory currently available on dealer lots in the buyer’s area.

Then, buyers are told to enter their name, e-mail address and a password. The site is geared to deliver the request for an offer to all dealers in the area with matching inventory.

“Throughout the Mojo buying process, the buyer remains anonymous to the dealer,” site officials emphasized.

“This is a deviation from other online used car shopping sites which result in unsolicited phone calls and spam e-mails from dealers,” they continued.

Next, dealers who have a vehicle that meets shoppers’ criteria are scheduled to receive an alert from Mojo Motors. Dealers can respond with their best offer on the vehicle, and up to five dealer offers are presented to the buyer.

Site officials indicated each offer includes vehicle photos, detailed description of the vehicle, a free Carfax vehicle history report and the dealer’s contact information.

To help close the deal, Mojo Motors rewards buyers with a $50 Mojo Reward Card if they purchase a vehicle from a dealer that made them an offer through Mojo Motors and report the purchase on the Mojo Motors website.

“With real offers in hand, consumers now have their mojo and are in an informed position to contact the dealer and test drive the car,” site officials contend.

“Since dealers are competing with other dealers for the consumers’ business, buyers can feel confident they have leverage (mojo) in the relationship with the dealer,” they added.

Bill Goulette, Internet sales director at Atamian Honda in Tewksbury, Mass., described what the site has done for his store.

“In today’s increasingly competitive used car-buying market, Mojo Motors is a tool that helps us compete,” Goulette insisted.

“As a dealer, we receive quality leads from interested and knowledgeable buyers, while consumers enjoy an easy and private way to shop for the best deal on a used car. It’s a win-win,” he continued.

Jerry Galeon, a buyer who used the site added, “I always thought that buying a used car meant hours of haggling with dealers over price, but using Mojo was a simple process I could trust. The whole process was painless and it saved time and money.”

Mojo Motors chief executive officer and founder Paul Nadjarian insisted that the site caters to what industry trends are reflecting. Nadjarian cited the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Used Vehicle Market Report that noted used-vehicle buyers who used the Web while shopping increased to 68 percent last year, a 5-percent rise from 2009.

“There is no reason why buying a used car needs to be a painful and time consuming process so many consumers dread,” stressed Nadjarian, whose professional career includes time with eBay Motors and Ford.

“Mojo Motors’ goal is to fix the used car buying experience by simply connecting interested buyers directly with pre-approved dealers via a quick and easy three-step process,” he continued. The service is a ‘no-brainer’ when looking for the perfect used vehicle. In fact, in just a few short months, dealers have already offered $1 million in discounts to car buyers through Mojo Motors in the greater Boston area.”
