DALLAS -

Continuing a string of growth announcements revealed throughout the year, online salvage vehicle auction company Copart opened its third physical facility in North Carolina this week.

The company indicated its newest facility in the Tar Heel State is located in Mebane, representing Copart’s 155th facility worldwide.

Officials explained that the site will be used to process vehicles from the area between the cities of Greensboro and Raleigh and the North Carolina and Virginia border.

“The Mebane facility will provide much needed capacity in the state of North Carolina,” Copart president Vincent Mitz highlighted.

“And it will allow us to more efficiently address the demands of our insurance customers as we continue to grow our volume,” Mitz added.

Copart chief executive officer Jay Adair hinted during a conference call with Wall Street analysts back in March when the company revealed its second-quarter performance that the operation was gearing up to gain more non-insurance volume because of what it’s assigning for future capital expenditures.

Adair said Copart has more than “12 facilities in the pipeline that will be opening or expanding in the next year” because of “market share gains and increased volume associated with non-insurance gains.”

Furthermore in May, Copart ventured for the first time into western Canada when it acquired Diamond Auto Bids and Disposals, a privately held auction company with locations in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta. The acquisition provided Copart its first locations in this part of Canada for what officials said was to accommodate their expanding Canadian customer base.
