NEW YORK -

Though the company refused to issue a statement or confirm to Auto Remarketing, news is now circulating that DuPont is accepting bids for its automotive paint division.

Citing unnamed sources, the report that surfaced late last week indicates that the sale of this business unit could garner more than $4 billion. It was widely reported in October that DuPont had thought about making such a sale, but the latest is that the company has started taking bids.

Auto Remarketing reached out to DuPont for comment and/or confirmation on Monday, but a company spokesperson said it is the company’s policy not to comment on rumors or speculation.

The report listed several private equity firms as being interested. It also claimed that Credit Suisse Group, serving as advisers, distributed information material among possible suitors.
