ATLANTA -

As part of its continuing focus on serving customers in any way they choose, Manheim announced the promotion of Joe George on Wednesday to senior vice president of digital and in-lane product development.

The company explained the new position is an expansion of George’s previous role as group vice president, Manheim Digital, and reflects Manheim’s strategy to continue developing innovative solutions that make it easy for customers to conduct business.

In this new role, Manheim indicated George will oversee long-range product development processes including researching and analyzing new or improved products, services and partnerships that provide strategic and unique competitive advantages.

Furthermore, George will remain responsible for the evolution of Manheim’s digital marketplace, including Manheim Simulcast, OVE.com, Manheim.com, mobile services and multiple product solution platforms.

The company is also asking George to maximize Manheim’s focus on leveraging the collective strengths of its digital and product in-lane lines.

“Joe’s deep in-lane auction experience and solid understanding of emerging digital trends positioned him well for this critical role,” said Janet Barnard, Manheim executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“Joe has done a terrific job of listening to our customers and delivering the types of products and support they’ve asked for and need today, as well as in the future,” Barnard added.

George, an auto industry veteran, joined Manheim more than 21 years ago as a marketing/arbitration manager. Since then, he has held numerous positions within the Cox automotive family of businesses. He was one of AutoTrader.com’s first employees. He also held leadership positions at Cox AutoTrader and at Cox AutoTrader/AutoMart.

As 2012 progresses, the company believes George will help Manheim continue to develop and blend digital and in-lane products in ways that drive business results for customers.
