MIAMI -

Two dealerships in Miami are reaching out to benefit animals in need when they host an event early next month that will not only help give some furry four-legged friends proper homes, but also raise significant funds for the local Humane Society.

The second annual Humane Society of Greater Miami Event will be held April 2 at William Lehman Subaru and William Lehman Hyundai location in Miami.

Alex Falcon, the dealerships’ general manager, plans to donate $100 to the Humane Society for every vehicle purchased that day as well as $100 for every pet that is adopted.

Hotdogs, hamburgers and refreshments will be sold for $0.25 during the event and the proceeds will go to the Humane Society, as well.

A year ago, the Subaru store generated close to $3,000 in donations for the organization. Falcon aims on besting that during this year’s event.

“We feel it is our personal duty to use the dealership as a location for raising money,” Falcon noted. “I encourage those considering purchasing an automobile or adopting a pet to come to the adopt-a-thon. You’ll double your purchase or adoption by helping a worthy cause.”

Laurie Hoffman, director of communication and special events for the Humane Society of Greater Miami, offered her perspective, noting: “A pet adoption and an automobile purchase are both life-impacting decisions.

“We are so appreciative of William Lehman Subaru and William Lehman Hyundai for hosting us again,” she added. “We rely on our community to help us fulfill our mission of finding a loving home for all the animals in our care, no matter how long it takes.”

Officials added that in 2010, eight dogs were adopted during the event, raising $1,600.
