LAS VEGAS -

With speakers including Manheim’s Sandy Schwartz, Kia’s Tom Loveless, Asbury’s Ed Curry and DARCARs’ Tammy Darvish, auction executives have descended on Caesars Palace in Las Vegas today for the start of the National Auto Auction Association/CAR event, which also features a meeting of the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance.

On Tuesday, a bit of business was taken care of, including some IARA certification testing, as well as IARA committee meetings, and an IARA board of directors meeting.

However, today, the conference gets into full swing with concurrent 8 a.m. workshops of the NAAA Legislative Committee and NAAA Chapter Board of Directors Meeting.

The IARA keynote address begins at 8:15 a.m., featuring Sandy Schwartz, Manheim president. He will talk about his perspective of current and future trends.
Next up is an IARA roundtable discussion at 9:15 a.m., where the group will examine the condition report process.

After this concludes, the IARA will host its Circle of Excellence Award Luncheon and keynote address.

Picking back up after the luncheon at 1:35 p.m., the event reconvenes with NAAA’s Perspective of the State of the Auction Industry. Then Herman “Herm” Edwards, NFL analyst at ESPN and former NFL head coach, will discuss “positive leadership lessons, based on life lessons he has collected over the years.”

At 2:45 p.m., NAAA/CAR attendees will hear from Tom Loveless, vice president of sales at Kia, who will present a forecast of current and emerging automotive trends in the retail and wholesale markets.

The rest of the day’s workshops will consist of concurrent sessions featuring speakers discussing independent dealers, credit union remarketing, fleet trends and residual value trends.

The day will conclude with a networking reception and expo.
