SAN FRANCISCO -

A recovery agent brought reinforcements the second time he attempted to repossess an SUV last week and for good reason.

The first attempt resulted in a confrontation that included gunfire.

Police said in a report published by the San Francisco Examiner that the 25-year-old agent was not injured during the incident at 4 a.m. last Tuesday. However, after hearing the shots while driving away, the agent called police for assistance to take in the silver GMC Envoy scheduled for repossession.

“As he was getting ready to hook it up to the tow truck to leave, he was approached by two suspects,” police officer Albie Esparza told the Examiner.

“One of the suspects brandished a weapon and told the repo man, ‘You’re not taking the vehicle,’ but actually in more derogatory terms,” Esparza added.

With police with him, the agent secured the vehicle on the second attempt. Police did not need to impound the unit because it was not damaged by the suspects.

The newspaper report indicated police were still seeking the suspects involved. Law enforcement also contends these same suspects could be connected with a shooting incident a few hours earlier.

Esparza described the first suspect as a black man in his early 20s, standing 5 feet  11 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. The other individual is believed to be 5 feet 8 inches tall and was wearing a dark baseball cap, black shirt and black pants at the time.
