CARMEL, Ind. -

Though he has been in retirement for more than two years after an extensive career in the auto finance field, well-known SmartAuction developer and former GMAC executive Bill McIver now has a new duty: serving as a board member for Dealer Services Corp. of Indiana.

McIver spent four decades at what is now known as Ally, with his latest post being GMAC’s director of Internet remarketing. One of his most significant impacts on the remarketing business was creating and serving as director of the company’s SmartAuction platform, where more than 3 million units have been wholesaled online since its inception.

He retired in May 2009 having served in management across practically the entire spectrum of the financial services arena. McIver’s management positions included time in collections, dealer credits, commercial lending and remarketing.

McIver also headed up operations in several locations. His experience also included a decade at the lender’s headquarters in Detroit.

“I think Bill McIver is one of the most knowledgeable people there is in vehicle remarketing, and I am excited to have him join our board,” said company chairman John Fuller. “As we build DSC to be the best company it can be, we feel fortunate having men like Bill to guide and direct us.”

McIver also serves on two non-profit organizations’ respective boards and counts the Auto Remarketing Lifetime Achievement award as one of his honors.

“It has been my pleasure to watch Dealer Services Corporation’s rapid rise to become the leader in financial services for independent dealers. Becoming part of the DSC team is an exciting opportunity that I look forward to with great anticipation,” stated McIver.
