SAN JOSE, Calif. -

Online marketplace eBay Motors this week announced upgrades to its certified pre-owned platform that the company says are designed to provide OEMs and dealers with a more robust online sales channel, to complement brick-and-mortar dealerships.

The revamped CPO platform includes redesigned showroom and brand pages, eBay Motors said, as well as enhanced listing templates and an above-the-fold inventory finder on the brand showroom page, all meant to offer users a simpler search experience.

The platform also provides targeted ad placements on the site, for participating brands.

“We’ve updated our CPO showroom to provide OEMs and dealers with a more robust channel for sales and leads, and to provide consumers with access to reliable, certified pre-owned vehicles at a great value,” said Kristine Chin, head of eBay Motors. “It has never been easier to buy or sell a CPO vehicle on eBay Motors.”

The improved eBay Motors CPO platform offers OEMs an avenue to market their brands to eBay’s audience of 105 million active users worldwide, the company said, and can serve as a resource for OEMs in supporting their dealers. The program offers qualified lead generation to dealers, the company said, plus comprehensive training and built-in support mechanisms.

The CPO platform is free for dealers associated with participating brands.

eBay Motors reports that some brands participating in the new CPO platform have seen searches double since the redesign of the site, with a similar increase in leads.

The 10 automotive brands currently using eBay Motors’ CPO platform include Mercedes, Porsche, Lexus, Nissan, Volkswagen, Lincoln, Ford, Mercury, Toyota and Scion, the company reports.

The platform currently includes more than 150,000 vehicle listings, managed by Liquid Motors, with 8,600 participating dealers.
