SANTA MONICA, Calif. -

Late last week, Edmunds.com debuted a new offering at its AutoObserver.com website that is designed to serve as a resource for a variety of auto industry trends, including monthly vehicle sales, incentives, vehicle consideration data and much more.

The Car Data Center will allow visitors to check out free charts and downloadable spreadsheets that feature:

—Monthly car sales and market share data broken out by make and manufacturer.
—Monthly Fuel Cost for all new vehicles based on 1,250 miles driven per month and regularly updated national-average fuel costs.
—Updated breakouts of Edmunds.com’s True Cost of Incentives by both make and manufacturer.
—A running tally of vehicle recalls and analysis of safety complaints reported to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration.
—Vehicle consideration data by make and category, based on the online shopping behavior of consumers on Edmunds.com.

“This is the database that the automotive industry has needed for quite some time,” Michelle Krebs, senior analyst at Edmunds.com, noted.

“No other online source readily provides this much in-depth information on automotive trends in such an easy-to-use format. Journalists, educators, financial analysts and, of course, automotive industry analysts will all find the Data Center highly useful in their everyday research,” she added.

The tool will include month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons and will be updated at least on a monthly basis.
