Which Brand Has Mobile App Downloaded Most Often?
MobileAppLoader, a company that creates mobile device applications for small and medium-sized businesses, reported Wednesday that dealership apps it makes for one specific luxury brand are downloaded much more frequently than apps of its peers.
The brand that led the way in the provider’s report with 36 percent of the total was BMW. Coming next was Volkswagen at 12 percent, followed by Toyota at 9 percent and Ford at 5 percent.
Two BMW dealership managers who have applications described how successful they’ve been in generating store and service activity.
“Our iPhone app is a fantastic tool for our dealership,” stated Ty Whiting, part of the store personnel at Classic BMW in Willoughby Hills, Ohio.
“We send news and updates to our customers with it,” Whiting continued. “They can check our inventory and request appointments directly from it. Our app is always in our customers’ pocket.”
Danielle Cloutier of Crevier BMW in Santa Ana, Calif., explained that store’s iPhone app is “an important tool for our e-commerce and marketing services. It is important for us to have a presence in the iTunes App Store, and our customers love it.”
Beyond BMW franchise dealers, MobileAppLoader also mentioned that other brand stores are seeing the benefits of mobile applications, too.
“We’ve won business by having a presence in the iTunes App Store. Our customers love it,” noted Tim Glockner of Glockner Toyota/Honda in Portsmouth Ohio.
According to MobileAppLoader report, dealerships can get the most mileage from apps when they feature instant notifications, inventory searches and appointment scheduling. Notifications can enable dealership personnel to connect with customers via text and picture-based messages, including announcements of sales and coupons. Inventory searches and appointment scheduling also can be completed quicker.
Zvika Ashkenazi, chief executive officer of MobileAppLoader, believes mobile device users find apps more appealing than websites.
“To reach this mobile audience, businesses are creating apps in growing numbers,” Ashkenazi contends.
“They want an affordable way of increasing exposure and reaching out for customers across iPhone, iPad, and Android platforms,” he continued. “With mobile apps, businesses increase their accessibility, and customers respond to that convenience.”
